I smashed my phone on the ground so the kidnappers would not get access to my Opay account – Victim

The victim has described how, after inadvertently boarding a kidnapper-run “one-chance” cab, he barely avoided a violent robbery and abduction attempt in Abuja.

The victim stated in an interview with The Lucky Udu Experience FROM 2:34, “I strongly believed that the guy was the driver’s son. He was the one that brought out a knife and started stabbing me on the back.”

“He even tried to slit my throat, but I struggled with them.”

He explained that as he retaliated, the kidnappers grew more hostile.

He claims that his resistance turned into a physical altercation while they were driving.

“With the way I was fighting with them, my elbow mistakenly broke the window glass. So they stopped. When they stopped, they pushed me down and started beating me.”

The victim disclosed that he took extreme measures to safeguard his money.

“The moment we stopped, I smashed my phone on the ground. I did it intentionally so they would not get access to my Opay account, because my whole house rent was inside my Opay. So I had to smash the phone on the floor.”

His behavior appeared to enrage the kidnappers even more.

“That was when they started beating and pushing me. The other man brought out a cutlass and hit me with it. I was shouting.”

Luckily, assistance showed up on schedule.

“Another vehicle made a stop and dropped a passenger. They noticed the scene and came to rescue me. The kidnappers fled the scene when the rescuers came.”
