“I stabbed my own mother to death by mistake” – Man opens up after 10 years in prison

Elijah Nganyuini never thought that one terrible error would lead to his life ending in turmoil, heartache, and incarceration.

In a recent appearance on Itugi TV, the young guy from Murang’a County surprised viewers by brutally confessing how he unintentionally stabbed his own mother during a heated argument and was sentenced to more than ten years in prison.

After his Class Eight exams, he started having issues. He was pulled into drug use, smoking, and disobedience by his peers. Despite his mother’s best efforts to save him, things only grew worse once he was dismissed from secondary school.

He married and began studying mechanic skills from his father, but everything was destroyed by booze. Tragic events occurred when his wife returned after her separation and became pregnant with their second kid. Their baby passed away.

Then came the day that made all the difference.

A shamba boy ran away after stealing from the family. Nganyuini was wrongfully arrested despite being intoxicated and mentally ill. His second kid also died while he was incarcerated. That was the tipping point for him.

His mother confronted him when he arrived home. They gathered and yelled that he was a robber. He pulled out a dagger in anger and terror. When his mother attempted to stop him, she became entangled in the conflict. He stabbed her in the chest by accident.

“She was trying to protect me. I didn’t mean to harm her,” he cried.

She passed away. After ten minutes of blacking out, he awoke in jail and was charged with murder.

Elijah attempted suicide while incarcerated, but the court later dropped the charge to manslaughter. He received a 10-year sentence in 2018. He was freed in 2023 following petitions and good behavior.

Elijah lives with a great deal of regret now.
