The management of Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, formerly known as The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has cautioned students against a planned protest scheduled for Tuesday. In a statement signed by Acting Registrar Joseph Ogunjimi, the management advised parents and guardians to warn their wards against any actions that could disrupt the institution’s peace.

The warning comes after students protested last Tuesday over the state’s decision to rename the institution in honor of the late former governor, Omololu Olunloyo. The students, who marched to the Governor’s Office, demanded the reinstatement of the institution’s former name, citing a lack of consultation and disregard for the institution’s identity.

The management’s statement read, “The management advises the Students’ Union and the entire students’ body not to be involved in any protest or closure of the gates leading to the institution. Any action against the interest of the institution or government will be considered as an affront by the authorities.”

The institution’s management has mobilized security agencies to maintain peace and order within the institution and urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against any disruptive activities.

“We will not tolerate any action that is inimical to the interest of the institution and the government,” the statement warned.
