The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, in Imo State has advised its members to ignore rumors that Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s national scribe, has been fired by the National Working Committee.

Through its publicity secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, the party’s state leadership declared that the report is nothing more than fake news, created by people who have decided to mislead the public in order to further their illegitimate agenda, which he claimed is being tainted with desperation and selfishness.

He insisted that until the Apex Court renders a decision, Samuel Anyanwu’s role as the party’s national secretary remains unaltered.

“Contrary to Ologunagba’s claims, the NWC neither convened nor resolved to affirm Ude Okoye as National Secretary or remove Senator Anyanwu. The official position of the NWC remains that the status quo is maintained, meaning Senator Anyanwu continues in his position unless the Supreme Court rules otherwise, as the matter is already before the apex court. Any action to the contrary would be sub judice.” the release hinted.

Obiaku went on to explain that Umar Damagun, the party’s acting national chairman, had distanced the NWC and himself from the National Publicity Secretary’s stance, stating that Ologunagba had purportedly voiced his own personal opinion, which does not reflect the NWC’s stance.

Through the news release, Imo PDP asked its members, leaders, stakeholders, and the public at large to ignore any reports that would indicate otherwise.

“The fake news and impersonation are merely part of the ploy by those whose interest lies in sowing confusion and chaos within the party. No one should fall for it.

” As a matter of fact, Senator Anyanwu was in office today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, carrying out his duties as the bona fide National Secretary of the party.

”We will continue to stand firmly behind Senator Anyanwu, our leader and illustrious Imo son, as the duly elected National Secretary, especially as both the law and the party’s constitution continue to uphold his rightful and well-earned position.” the release further informed.
