Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has canceled his planned visit to three European countries due to rising tensions with Pakistan, according to official sources on Wednesday.
Modi had been scheduled to visit Croatia, Norway, and the Netherlands between May 13 and 17.
His itinerary included a stop in Norway for participation in the Nordic Summit.
Sources cited by local media outlet the Hindu confirmed that the trip has been called off.
The three European nations involved have been officially notified of the cancellation, the sources added.
This development follows Indian military operations on Tuesday targeting Pakistan, which reportedly resulted in at least 20 fatalities.
The military action came in response to a deadly April 22 incident in Indian-administered Kashmir that left multiple people dead.
In response, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday pledged that his country would respond to India’s most recent strike.
