At their house in Gurugram, India, Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old tennis player competing at the national level, was tragically shot and killed by her father, Deepak Yadav.

She was cooking a supper to celebrate her mother’s birthday when the tragedy happened. Her uncle and cousin hurried the young athlete to the hospital, but when they got there, they pronounced her dead.

Police sources state that Deepak Yadav confessed to the murder after saying he could no longer stand the villagers’ constant teasing and rumors.

His purported reliance on his daughter’s earnings and lifestyle was the main subject of the rumors. He said he felt ashamed of the villagers’ ongoing humiliation and that he had been under a lot of pressure. According to reports, he repeatedly requested that Radhika close her tennis academy, but she refused.

Their Gurugram duplex’s kitchen was the scene of the horrifying deed. While Radhika was preparing breakfast, Deepak Yadav fired five rounds from his licensed pistol, three of which hit her in the back.
