Air travel faced interruptions on Sunday after a missile strike by Houthi forces targeted Ben Gurion Airport, located close to Tel Aviv.
According to Newsweek, the ballistic missile attack, launched from Yemen, left no fewer than six individuals injured.
The Israeli military confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday, noting that efforts were made to intercept the incoming missile.
Additional reports stated that loud explosions occurred near the airport, sparking widespread alarm and prompting millions of residents to seek safety in shelters.
“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in a number of areas in Israel, a missile was launched from Yemen.
“Attempts were made to intercept the missile and the results of the interception are under review.
Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol,” the Israeli Defense Force said in a statement.
