Veteran Nigerian singer Salawa Abeni has responded to circulating rumours about her death, firmly denying the claims in a video posted on her Instagram page.
In the video, she described the reports as “shameful” and expressed gratitude to her fans and loved ones for their concern.
While addressing the false news, Salawa Abeni urged the public to ignore the rumours. Singing in the clip, she declared that anyone wishing her dead would meet their end before her.
In the caption accompanying the video, the 64-year-old music icon wrote: “I’m alive, hail, and hearty. Please disregard the rumours. Some blogs will do the unthinkable just to trend. It is rather shameful. The Queen is fine and doing very well.”
In recent times, several other Nigerian public figures, including Ebenezer Obey and actor Chiwetalu Agu, have also had to refute false death reports.
