‘It’s ironic to declare Biafra agitators wanted and release Boko Haram terrorists’ – Kanu’s lawyer

Aloy Ejimakor, the principal counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stated on Friday that it was ironic that the Nigerian government recently released hundreds of terrorists from detention while declaring certain individuals sought for agitating for Biafra.

Chika Edoziem, the head of the IPOB’s state department, along with 96 other individuals, including other Biafra secessionists, were declared wanted by the Nigerian Defence Headquarters on suspicion of terrorism and insurgency-related offences.

The self-acclaimed Biafra leader Simon Ekpa, who resides in Finland, is also wanted.

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court in Borno has ordered the immediate release of at least 313 suspected Boko Haram terrorists who were arrested by the military.

After conducting investigations, the court ordered the suspected terrorists’ release from jail.

In response, Ejimakor questioned why the Nigerian government would release the terrorism suspects that the military had arrested while declaring some Biafra agitators wanted.

The IPOB lawyer stated on X that it was ironic and further compelling proof of the appalling injustice that had led to Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention.

According to Ejimakor: “It’s an oxymoron for the Army to declare someone wanted for seeking a separate State & turn around to free hundreds of terrorists, all in the same week.

“It’s another stark evidence of the horrendous injustice that is responsible for the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
