JUST IN: Foundation empowers five UNILAG students with prestigious scholarship awards

Five exceptional 300-level students of the Department of Insurance and Actuarial Science, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Lagos (UNILAG), have been awarded the prestigious Funmi Babington-Ashaye (FBA) Foundation Scholarship Awards. The awardees are Adeyoola Oluwadamilola Adetoro, Adekunle Deborah Motunrayo, Adeleye Oluwatoyin Mercy, Adebowale Adeleke Oluwadamilare, and Olufemi Adeboro Godwin.

The awards presentation ceremony was held on August 19, 2025, at the Office of Advancement, UNILAG. The Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Professor Abdul-Hameed Adeola Sulaimon, praised the recipients for their commitment to scholarship and commended the generosity of the Funmi Babington-Ashaye Foundation.

Professor Sulaimon expressed gratitude to Dr. (Mrs.) Funmi Babington-Ashaye and her family for their unwavering investment in education, saying, “The Foundation’s commitment to the award scheme remains a source of inspiration to the students of the faculty to aim higher and achieve greatness.”

The General Manager, Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers Limited, Mr. Sunday Oyeniyi, representing the donor, congratulated the award recipients and charged them to consider the award as recognition of their hard work and a motivation to do more. He encouraged them to “dream big to be able to bestow such awards upon future generations in their alma mater as well.”

Oyeniyi also urged the awardees to remain disciplined, resilient, and firm in their determination to achieve greatness, saying, “Do not be deterred by hurdles you may encounter along your academic and career paths.”

The scholarship recipients were presented with their awards by Mr. Oyeniyi and Professor Sulaimon. Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Miss Deborah Motunrayo Adekunle expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Funmi Babington-Ashaye Foundation, promising that the recipients would make the most of the scholarship award and make the Foundation and UNILAG proud
