Kano Varsity guarantees security for guests at convocation, reveals number of graduating students

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State, is gearing up to host its 5th Combined Convocation ceremony and Silver Jubilee celebration. The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, has assured guests of adequate security, citing the importance of the event and the expected attendance of prominent personalities from across the country.

“We are expecting guests from across the country because of the importance of this convocation and because of the calibre of prominent personalities we intend to honour during the occasion,” Yakasai said.

The university will honour five notable individuals with honorary doctorate degrees, including Dr Adeniyi Raji SAN, Chief Arthur Eze, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, Alhaji Mustapha Ado, and the investiture of the university’s Chancellor, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

A total of 18,000 students from seven sets are expected to receive their first, second, and third degrees during the convocation ceremony. Yakasai commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued support of the institution, noting that it has been a decade since the university last held a convocation ceremony.

The university has put in place necessary security measures to ensure a hitch-free event, with security committee members working around the clock to guarantee the success of the ceremony. “For a decade now, the university has not had convocation. So, we are expecting several guests, including those expected to accompany awardees,” Yakasai said
