In an attempt to overthrow the All Progressives Congress, or APC, government, a faction of Katsina State’s PDP has disclosed plans to join another party.

At a meeting with party members and supporters in Katsina on Sunday, Alh. Mustapha Inuwa, the faction’s head, revealed this information.

The goal, according to Inuwa, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), is to build a new political alliance in order to bring an end to APC hegemony at the state and national levels in the 2027 elections.

He clarified that the purpose of the gathering was to update members on the circumstances and emphasize the significance of developing a different political platform.

Inuwa stated, “The coalition is working nationally with political heavyweights to form a solid, viable, and dependable platform capable of challenging the APC.”

God willing, he continued, the movement’s leadership will make a decision on the new platform by the end of June.

He asked devoted followers to maintain their composure, keep supporting the group, and offer up prayers for both its success and Nigeria’s overall advancement.

In pursuit of their common vision and objective, he urged all progressive-minded people to join the movement, irrespective of their political membership.

“Once we decide on the platform, we’ll reconvene here and follow the template provided by the national leadership for local implementation,” he said.

Comparing it to leaving the frying pan only to end up in the fire, Inuwa urged followers not to be concerned about defections to the APC.

He clarified that switching from the PDP to the APC doesn’t really solve anything because both parties have internal issues, particularly during congresses.

He criticized Katsina’s local government elections, saying that only candidates who were approved by the administration received forms, and he implied that the same problematic pattern will be followed in future elections.

“Our major concern remains the electorate, who are with us. We are with them. God willing, we will succeed,” Inuwa said.
