Kabir Garba Marafa, a former senator who once represented Zamfara Central, has voiced deep concern over recent violent attacks by bandits in Zauma, located in Bukkuyum Local Government Area, as well as in sections of Shinkafi LGA. These incidents resulted in the deaths of local vigilante members and security officers.
In a statement delivered by his media aide, Mansur M. Haruna, Marafa offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and referred to the situation as a grim reflection of the deteriorating security situation across Zamfara State.
He emphasized that the continuous bloodshed underscores the urgent need for collaboration among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, arguing that real development is impossible without first securing the lives of citizens.
“The failure to act collectively on security is costing innocent lives. Unfortunately, some leaders have chosen to play politics with this crisis,” he said, pointing out that earlier warnings he had made about the danger posed by bandits were not taken seriously.
He called on the people of Zamfara, along with key stakeholders, to stay alert and remain dedicated to achieving peace. He also warned that political competition must never take precedence over the fundamental duty of safeguarding human life.
