A Norfolk-based charity, Accident Rescue Service (NARS), has received a generous donation from King Charles’ Privy Purse Charitable Trust. The charity, staffed by volunteer doctors, nurses, paramedics, and first responders, attends 999 calls across the county and relies entirely on charitable donations.
NARS had its busiest year ever, with over 2,000 call-outs, and the donation will help the charity continue its emergency work. “We can’t disclose the amount, but it goes straight to keeping us operational and saving lives 24/7,” said Steve Maddams, a NARS first responder.
“We’re truly grateful to His Majesty the King for recognising us as a charity to give a donation to,” Mr Maddams added. “Every single penny makes a huge difference to us to buy our equipment, the vehicles, and the latest uniform and to keep us out there.
The Privy Purse Charitable Trust makes donations to charities of which the monarch is patron, using their private income. This is the second time King Charles has made a grant to NARS via the trust, demonstrating his “continued commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Norfolk”.
NARS was started in 1970 and assists the ambulance service in treating seriously ill or injured patients, often in hard-to-reach areas. The charity’s 50-strong team of medics is sent out to emergencies, including road crashes, heart attacks, and seizures.
“We’re grateful for the King’s support, which will help us continue our life-saving work,” said Mr Maddams. The donation will enable NARS to maintain its operations and provide critical care to those in need
