Samson Ayadi was found guilty of attacking a Federal Road Safety Corps patrol team by a magistrate court in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Samson was charged with four counts in Magistrate I.Y. Jimade’s court for his actions against the Oloru unit’s corps patrol squad on July 20, 2024, along the Ilorin-Jebba highway near Molete junction.
In addition to organizing the crowd to attack the patrol team, the convicted individual who was operating a Toyota Sienna stopped and got inside the patrol car to retrieve an impounded motorcycle whose rider had taken precautions to the wind and stripped naked.
The defendant was the sole witness for the defense, while three witnesses testified for the prosecution.
The court rejected the defense counsel’s prior argument that there was no case, and only one charge was upheld.
The court determined that the case was proven beyond a reasonable doubt after considering the exhibits and the testimony of the defense and prosecution attorneys.
Samson was sentenced by the magistrate to six months in prison or N20,000 for criminal intimidation, three months in prison or N30,000 in fines for criminal assault, three months in prison or N10,000 in fines for inciting disturbance, and six months in prison or N30,000 in fines for resisting or obstructing an on-duty public official.
