The Uromi Like Minds Initiative (ULMI) has donated food items, medical supplies, hygiene materials, and financial aid to orphanages and elderly homes in Uromi, Esan North East Local Council of Edo State. The donation was made in the spirit of Easter, with the group’s Executive Chairman, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray, emphasising the need for unity, compassion, and collective commitment to rebuilding Uromi and Esanland.
According to Okpebholo, “The Easter season reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice: God’s gift of His only Son for mankind’s redemption. In this same spirit of selflessness, we must extend kindness to the disadvantaged.” He urged sons and daughters of Uromi, both at home and abroad, to support peace and progress in the community, highlighting its legacy of producing national icons such as the late Chief Anthony Enahoro and Chief Tony Anenih.
Okpebholo lamented the insecurity affecting Uromi but maintained that the town’s true character lies in its people’s resilience and unity. “Through efforts like this, we illuminate the true essence of Uromi,” he said, inviting indigenes to join the Initiative and contribute to its mission
Another member of the group, Mr. Sylvester Ezehi, described the outreach as a consistent effort over five years to bring relief to the less privileged. “Our mission is to bring smiles to the faces of the needy, and we are committed to sustaining it,” he said.
The donation is a testament to the group’s commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community and promoting peace and progress in Uromi
