Thurgood Marshall College Fund Receives $25 Million Grant from Lilly Endowment to Support HBCU Capacity Building
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) has announced a significant $25 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to support capacity building at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The grant will fund Project HBCU Capacity Building: Maximizing HBCU Performance Through Investments in Research, Operations, and Innovation.
This project aims to address infrastructure needs and accelerate innovation across TMCF member schools through strategic investments and partnerships. Key areas of focus include enhancing administrative systems and processes, facilitating collaborative learning and resource sharing in enrollment, student support services, and community engagement, and providing grant opportunities and technical assistance.
According to TMCF President and CEO Harry L. Williams, “This monumental grant will enable the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to better serve its campuses and students, providing opportunities for funding to implement innovative projects that address unique challenges.” Williams expressed gratitude for the trust placed in TMCF by the Lilly Endowment, saying, “We’re thankful for the trust placed in us by Lilly Endowment to carry out this work.
