Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has stated that the 2027 presidential election will be decided by the hungry Nigerians.

In the state capital of Ibadan, Makinde made this announcement on Wednesday.

Speaking during the formal inauguration of the recently elected PDP South-West zonal executive members, the governor stated that the state of the world in 2027 will be determined by the number of hungry people.

Speaking to the crowd, Makinde stated that the recent defection of several PDP veterans does not concern the party.

Despite the wave of desertion that has swept through the party, he remarked, the party will continue to connect with the Nigerian people and their goals.

Noting that the PDP is still the only party in Nigeria with extremely strong institutions, Makinde urged party members not to be disheartened by recent party defections.

“People have been asking us as leaders of this party that a lot of people are decamping, even governors, and some others are threatening to decamp and all of that. And they said, look, where is this party going?

“Well, I have good news. I said to the people that we will not be bothered until hunger has decamped to the ruling party, APC.

“The day hunger decamps, they should come and tell us and, then, we will know what to do. Because there is hunger in the land and majority of the people that are hungry would determine what 2027 would look like.

“So, don’t be bothered. If any governors like, let them decamp. We will stay with the people of Nigeria.”
