Mann was detained just after 4am on Sunday, Feb. 2, and charged with a count of second-degree felony m@nslaughter and a firearms-related third-degree count.

A man was slain by a friend after allegedly claiming he could “dodge a bullet” while high.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the deceased’s companion, Ashton Jonathan Mann, 23, was smoking marijuana in the kitchen and discussing guns before continuing the conversation in a garage.

According to the affidavit received by ABC4, Mann and his companion were handling two weapons when the latter “said he could dodge a bullet”.

Mann stated that he pointed a rifle and discharged it while his friend attempted to “jump out of the way to prove he could move before the trigger was pulled”.

According to the records, Mann stated that they did it about six times before “the gun fired striking (his friend) in the chest” the final time.

The suspect stated that he immediately called 911 and attended to his companion until first responders arrived at the home in Kearns, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Authorities discovered the friend unresponsive and took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Unified Police officers secured a search warrant for the home and found two pistols, magazines, ammunition, and “drug paraphernalia consistent with marijuana use,” according to the records.

Mann was detained shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, February 2, and charged with second-degree criminal manslaughter and a third-degree firearms offence.

The victim’s identification was not immediately revealed.
