In Jigawa State, over 792 women have defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the largest opposition party, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amina Umar Namadi, the governor’s wife, welcomed the defectors to Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

According to her, the development demonstrated the current administration’s strong leadership under Governor Umar Namadi and its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens, particularly for women and young people.

The APC’s doors are still open to anyone who wants to join the struggle for the advancement of the state, Mrs. Namadi said the women as she congratulated them.

Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government, also spoke at the ceremony and reiterated the current administration’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for common people.

He pointed out that the state administration has implemented a number of policies and programs for the state’s growth since its founding.

According to him, “the present administration has excelled among his counterparts in delivering the dividends of democracy to its citizens.”

Amina Waina, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, claimed that the women switched to the current administration because of its dedication to empowering women.

In the upcoming general election in 2027, they promised to keep encouraging women to vote for the current government.
