About 7,500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including important party executives, have defected to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Yunusa Umar, the deputy chairman of the APC in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Yusuf Sabo, the local chairman of the party, and Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, the executive chairman of Dass LGA, organized a banquet where Umar, APC Youth Leader Yusuf Inuwa Bora, and Welfare Secretary Isah Zakaria formally joined the PDP.
During the defection ceremony, Umar stated that their decision was motivated by Governor Bala Mohammed’s people-focused governance.
“Governor Bala Mohammed’s policies since 2019 have convinced us to align with PDP. The interests of our supporters come first, and we believe PDP truly prioritizes the welfare of the people,” Umar stated.
In addition to stating that Governor Mohammed’s developmental achievements had yielded greater advantages than APC Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s tenure, the defectors promised to rally support for the PDP before the next general election.
Jibo greeted the defectors, promising them complete PDP integration and asking them to work together to further the party’s goals for Dass and Bauchi State as a whole.
