One family physically rises head and shoulders above the others in the tiny Minnesotan hamlet of Esko. With an incredible average height of 203.29 cm (6 feet 8.03 inches), the Trapp family made history in 2020 when Guinness World Records formally acknowledged them as the tallest family in the world. Their record remains unbroken after three years.

Scott and Krissy are the parents of the Trapp family, and their three children are Adam (age 23), Molly (age 25), and Savanna (age 28). The length of a tennis court is almost half of their total height. Adam, the youngest child, is even taller than his already remarkable family members at 221.71 cm (7 feet 3 inches).

Molly is 197.26 cm (6 feet 6 inches), while his sister Savanna is 203.6 cm (6 feet 8 inches). At 202.7 cm (6 feet 8 inches) and 191.2 cm (6 feet 3 inches), respectively, parents Scott and Krissy round out the tall family. Krissy is affectionately called the “short one” in the family.

Naturally, because of their exceptional height, all three kids excelled in sports while they were in school. Universities took advantage of their natural advantages in stature and recruited each to play basketball or volleyball. However, most people never think about the special difficulties that come with living at such high altitudes.

For the Trapps, routine, everyday tasks turn into logistical difficulties. Most family members must duck to prevent head injury when navigating standard door frames. The majority of products must be carefully ordered, making it difficult to get shoes and clothes that fit correctly. Something as simple as getting in and out of a car turns into a patience and flexibility test. Similar challenges arise on public transit, as their long limbs are constantly unable to find enough space.

In addition to the physical difficulties, the Trapps must contend with ongoing public scrutiny. Strangers frequently ask them questions and give them strange looks because of their height, which makes them readily identifiable in any crowd. However, the family remains optimistic and approaches life with grace and humor in spite of these challenges.

The exceptional average height of the Trapps has not been surpassed by any other family since they were awarded the Guinness World Record in December 2020. People all throughout the world are still captivated by their narrative, which provides an insight into what it’s like to be different. The experience of the Trapps demonstrates that although exceptional physical characteristics can have some benefits, they also provide a distinct set of difficulties in day-to-day living.
