Lionel Messi and Inter Miami have been knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup by Los Angeles FC (LAFC).
Miami suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the quarter-finals, marking their first loss of the season.
Nathan Ordaz scored the sole goal of the match in the 57th minute, giving LAFC a narrow advantage heading into the return leg in Florida next week.
Messi and Miami, who had been unbeaten in nine matches across all competitions since the start of the season, arrived in Los Angeles as the form team of Major League Soccer (MLS).
It was a frustrating evening for Messi, who missed a free kick in a promising position deep into stoppage time, sending the ball over the bar as LAFC secured a well-earned win.
