Messi reveals why he snubbed Spain

Lionel Messi, the captain of Inter Miami, has disclosed that he rejected the chance to represent the Spanish national team.

On the Miro de Atras podcast, Messi asserted that he was approached in his initial years at Barcelona.

Nonetheless, the 39-year-old claims that he was always focused on representing Argentina.

As a child, Messi departed from Argentina to join FC Barcelona’s youth academy in Catalonia.

“There was a moment when something was mentioned from Spain,” he said.

“I’d been in Barcelona since I was very young, so it wasn’t strange. But my desire was always to play for Argentina.”
