Mohbad was nominated for clout – Carter Efe blasts Headies organizers over posthumous award

Carter Efe, a well-known skit maker and musician, has criticized the Headies Awards organizers for nominating the late singer Mohbad.

Reports confirm that Mohbad was nominated for the 17th edition of the Headies in two categories: Best Street-Hop Artiste of the Year and the Viewers’ Choice Award for his collaboration with Chike.

The late singer’s widow, Omowunmi, and their son accepted the posthumous awards in Lagos on Sunday.

However, reacting to the development in a video shared on social media, Carter Efe, on Monday, accused the Headies organizers of using Mohbad’s nomination to chase clout.

He pointed out that Headies had never awarded Mohbad while he was alive but chose to do so after his death.

He said in pidgin: “Why Headies dey misbehave now, them go dey nominate Mohbad? Wetin makes them nominate Mohbad? But when the boy was alive them no go give am o. Anything for the clout na him Headies go dey do.”

Reports recall that Mohbad, who is yet to be buried, passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances.
