The maintenance is aimed at permanently restoring a previously damaged fiber infrastructure along the AFCOT-Bawo Village route in Adamawa State.

The telco stated, “MTN Nigeria wishes to inform its customers of a scheduled network maintenance activity aimed at permanently restoring a previously damaged fiber infrastructure… The maintenance work of 101 sites in 15 LGAs across Adamawa, Borno, and Kano states.”

The affected areas include Kano State’s Nasarawa LGA, Adamawa State’s Girei, Song, Mubi North, Hong, Gombi, Fufore, Mubi South, Madagali, Michika, Maiha, Chibok, and Yola North LGA, and Borno State’s Askira/UBA and Shani LGA

The maintenance, which will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM, will involve cutting over traffic to a newly installed fiber infrastructure. This upgrade is necessary to eliminate damaged fiber spans and improve overall network stability.

MTN apologizes for any inconvenience caused and appreciates customers’ understanding as they work to improve service quality and reliability. The telco notes that the work will be carried out during daylight hours for security reasons.

This scheduled maintenance is part of MTN’s efforts to address the impact of fibre cuts and vandalism on its services. In July 2025 alone, MTN recorded 760 fibre cuts nationwide, bringing the year-to-date total to over 5,478 incidents.
