Elon Musk, the tech billionaire, has removed a controversial social media post in which he made explosive claims linking U.S. President Donald Trump to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The post was reportedly made during a public disagreement between Musk and Trump earlier in the week.

On Thursday, Musk, who recently stepped down from a high-level advisory position at the White House, alleged that Trump’s name appears in classified government documents concerning Epstein. Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges related to sex trafficking.

At the same time, officials from the Trump administration acknowledged they were reviewing a range of records, including videos and investigative files. Supporters of Trump’s “MAGA” movement believe these materials could expose prominent individuals allegedly connected to Epstein’s crimes.

President Trump was among those named in court materials and testimonies linked to Epstein, which were unsealed by a New York judge earlier in 2024. However, he has not been formally accused of any criminal behavior in relation to the case.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files. “That is the real reason they have not been made public,” Musk posted on his social media platform, X as his growing rift with the president takes a new twist.

By Saturday morning, both posts had been deleted, though screenshots had already circulated widely online.

Trump had previously acknowledged knowing Epstein socially but denied ever visiting Little Saint James, Epstein’s secluded island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where federal prosecutors allege underage girls were exploited.

Just last week, Trump publicly praised Musk as he exited his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he had been leading cost-reduction initiatives. However, their relationship quickly soured after Musk criticized a key spending bill, calling it a “disaster” that could define Trump’s second term if passed.

Trump responded angrily in a speech from the Oval Office, escalating the feud. The clash between the world’s richest man and the U.S. President has drawn intense attention across Washington and social media platforms, surprising many with the sudden and dramatic fallout.
