Muslim-Muslim ticket: Oyedepo sends strong message over viral claim

The President and founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has reacted strongly to comments attributed to Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir concerning the religious identity of Nigeria.

Jingir reportedly made the remarks during a political gathering in Kano State earlier this month while explaining his support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the January election.

The cleric was reported to have argued that Muslims make up the majority of Nigeria’s population and described Christians as a minority.

Oyedepo challenged the assertion during a sermon captured in a video currently circulating online.

The Living Faith Church founder urged Nigerians to consider the size and influence of major Christian congregations across the country when assessing claims about the nation’s religious composition.

According to ZINGTIE, Oyedepo referenced prominent Christian centres and ministries, including Redemption Camp, Salvation Ministries and Dunamis, while questioning the basis for portraying Nigeria as an Islamic nation.

He expressed strong disagreement with the claim, arguing that the widespread presence and large membership of Christian congregations across the country do not support such a description.

Oyedepo also raised concerns about developments he believes could unfold in Nigeria over the next 12 months.

He consequently urged Nigerians to remain attentive to events taking place across the country.

The cleric’s remarks have sparked reactions online, particularly as political discussions continue over religious representation and the proposed Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
