Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her personal journey towards forgiveness following her reconciliation with her former husband, Olakunle Churchill.
Dikeh shared the reflection in a post published on her Instagram page on Monday.
The actress revealed that hundreds of women have contacted her seeking guidance on how to overcome hurt and learn to forgive.
She explained that her personal experience has enabled her to connect with women who have gone through similar emotional struggles.
Dikeh disclosed that she had personally reached out to at least 10 women whose experiences reminded her of her own, helping some of them work towards reconciliation and restoring peace in their relationships.
The actress stressed that forgiveness should not be viewed primarily as a favour to the person who caused the pain.
According to her, forgiveness is instead a path towards personal freedom, emotional healing and peace.
She further maintained that genuine closure does not ultimately come from other people, but from God.
She wrote: “Ever since my reconciliation with my ex-husband, hundreds of women have reached out asking the same question: How did you learn to forgive? While I couldn’t reply to everyone, I reached out to those whose pain mirrored my own. Today, to the glory of God, at least 10 women have been reconciled restoring peace, healing hearts, and stepping into healthy co-parenting. God has truly turned my personal story into a tool for restoration.”
“If you are carrying bitterness today, please hear this: Forgiveness is never for the person who hurt you; it is for you. It is the key to moving your life forward. God will not inflict pain on others just because we are hurting. It is our own responsibility to release that weight and set ourselves free.”
“True closure doesn’t come from people, it comes from God. He promises to restore the years that the cankervorm has eaten. Not just days or weeks, but years. Every tear you’ve shed and every year spent in pain will be turned into a powerful testimony. To every woman praying for peace, healing, and family restoration: may my story be a beacon of hope for you and yours. Amen.”
