In an interview, she revealed that she was frequently beaten by her husband. She claimed that he used a cutlass to assault her, so she retaliated by hitting him with a knife.

In response to a question concerning domestic abuse in her marriage, Sodiya stated, “Domestic violence in marriage is a very bad thing because I also experienced it in the past. What led to my break up in my marriage was as a result of domestic violence, and I really had a bad experience.“

“Women will always come up with strange behaviours, but I believe that when a woman provokes a man, he should just leave the house and come back when everything is settled.“

“When domestic violence happened to me, I was very stubborn, and I usually defended myself. My husband was very deceitful to the extent that he goes about telling people that I injured him during our fight, but he won’t be able to show the scar on his body to anyone because he was lying.“

“My husband always beats me, he attacked me with a cutlass, and I attacked him with a knife too. I was so confident that day that he wouldn’t kill me, but I can never try something like that again .”
