My husband died immediately after we had sex and I’m the cause, I don’t know what to do

I never thought that one night would have such a profound impact on my life. Ade, my spouse, was everything to me. We had a great affection for one another, and I wanted to please him. He informed me that he frequently felt weak and exhausted, so one night when we were intimate, I gave him a medication I had purchased to help him last longer. I had no idea that night would turn out to be his last.

He was dead and cold by my side when I woke up the following morning. I called for assistance and screamed, but it was too late. His heart failed, the doctors revealed later. I was stunned. His death had been unintentionally caused by my own hands, the same hands that had loved him.

His parents betrayed me, which made the situation worse. They accused me of “cursing” or “neglecting” him. I was chased out of the house along with our three kids. We have been hopping from relative’s house to relative’s house in continual anxiety. The shame is terrible, and I feel as though my life has been ruined. Every time I see my kids, I remember the error that killed their father.

I’m not sure if I should tell his parents the truth. On the one hand, they should be aware of the true cause of their son’s death. On the other hand, I worry that they might hurt me, reject me outright, or remove the kids. Every day I am being crushed under the weight of this secret.

Advice: Mistakes have repercussions, and life can alter drastically in an instant. Seek advice from a counselor, legal advisor, or spiritual leader if you are carrying a big secret. While you should protect your kids, you should also find a way to let go of the guilt before it takes over your life.
