My parents laughed, played, prayed together before killing each other —Son of late Ekiti couple

Details of the circumstances surrounding his parents’ deaths have been revealed by the son of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Leramo Caleb of Ekiti State, who passed away following a violent dispute with his wife in Ado-Ekiti.

According to reports, ASP Caleb passed away after a violent altercation with his wife that claimed the lives of both of them.

Tensions in the home apparently increased before the event when ASP Caleb detained a man connected to his wife’s adulterous affair.

Nevertheless, their son claimed that before to the fatal incident, there were no outward indications of discord between his parents.

ASP Caleb and his wife were confirmed dead by the Nigeria Police Force, which described the occurrence as a tragic and regrettable domestic tragedy.

The son recalled that his parents had a calm evening together the night before the event, showing no symptoms of conflict.

The son said: “My father and my mum were playing that night of the incident. When my mum cooked, she went to visit her sick grandma because her grandma’s body was not well.

“She came back home by 9pm. Even my dad could not eat because my mum was not around. He waited for her to come back. So we ate when my mum came back.

“Even after, we were playing, they did not fight. They talked to each other. They even told us stories, funny stories. My father later went to take his bible and prayed. After prayer, I asked my mum if we should go to bed. But my father instructed me to go and sleep in our (children’s) room.”

However, what appeared to be a quiet night quickly devolved into a horrific spectacle. The boy described how the horrific sounds of his parents’ battle woke him out of his slumber.

He continued: “While sleeping (during midnight), I was just hearing sounds, I woke up and woke my sister up too. I told my sister that I was hearing the sound of a cutlass, indicating that my mum and my daddy were fighting.

“My sister stood to open the door but they had already locked the door. My dad kept shouting from the room and my mum too. So we ran to call our neighbours, and they pushed the door. So when the door was opened, we saw my daddy and my mum dead.”

According to sources, during the dispute, the wife used a sharp weapon to sever her husband’s manhood before he bled to death. He apparently attacked her with a machete before eventually giving up, resulting in her death.
