NAF destroys bandits’ enclave, frees 76 hostages in Katsina

The destruction of the famed bandit’s enclave and the rescue of 76 captives have been confirmed by the Katsina State Government.

In a statement released on Saturday, August 23, 2025, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Dr. Nasir Mu’azu confirmed the development, stating that the enclave of infamous bandit kingpin Babaro and his gang was completely destroyed, allowing for the release of 76 kidnapped victims, including women, children, and men.

The statement claimed that the latest incident in Katsina State’s Malumfashi hamlet was planned by the kidnappers.

“This morning, the NAF carried out a decisive air operation at Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area, successfully rescuing 76 kidnapped victims, including women and children,” the statement said.

The statement claims that the operation was conducted early on Saturday morning.

According to the state authorities, among the victims are those who were kidnapped during the assault on Unguwan Mantau in Malumfashi. One child unfortunately died during the incident, it was added.

In addition to congratulating the military, the Katsina State Government asked citizens to provide information to security forces so that they can further eliminate bandits throughout the state.
