Nafi’u Bala, a former African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Goombe State candidate for governor, has proclaimed himself the party’s national chairman.
Bala accused the David Mark-led leadership of unlawfully seizing control of the party and turning it over to outsiders in the guise of an opposition coalition during a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday evening.
He claimed that the action violates the ADC constitution and characterized it as political hooliganism.
“The plan to hand over our party’s future to powerful outsiders who were never part of us, while ignoring the duties of elected party leaders, is completely wrong and unacceptable,” he said.
Bonafide party members will contest the coup in court, Bala continued.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to acknowledge him as the party’s legitimate chairman immediately.
Recall that the party was just chosen as the alliance platform for the 2027 elections by opposition MPs and certain ADC leaders.
