The Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students has urged authorities to take immediate action to resolve the electrical problems plaguing campuses throughout Lagos.

The state chairman, Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Quadri, emphasized the urgent problems students experience as a result of insufficient power supply and other infrastructure flaws during a news conference.

He pointed out that although LASUSTECH students are assigned to Band A, which should provide roughly 20 hours of power each day, they now only receive about four hours.

He proceeded to indicate that Epe institutions, including LASUED, MOCOPED, YABATECH, and LASU, had been without reliable electricity for more than 10 years, and that recent cable thefts had made the issue worse.

Abdul-Quadri urged the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to “resolve this issue promptly,” stating that the situation had a significant impact on academic activity.

“We hereby call on the government to wade into the situation and restore power supply.
