The Edo State Ministry of Education has pledged to collaborate with the Joint Campus Council (JCC) of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) to host an inter-school quiz competition. The event, themed “Safe Campus for Students: Combating Physical and Digital Threats,” aims to address campus insecurity, cultism, and online threats while promoting academic collaboration and intellectual development.

Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, described the initiative as “timely and commendable,” aligning with the state government’s vision for safer and more inclusive campuses. “This is not just a student programme, it is a vision-driven intervention,” he said.

The Commissioner praised the student leaders’ proactive approach to campus safety and digital literacy, noting that the event would serve as a blueprint for student-led solutions. “Your theme… could not have come at a more critical time,” he added

NANS State Chairman, Comrade Ojumoola Miracle Timileyin, thanked the Commissioner for his support, stating that the event was “a movement” to mobilize students for a safer and more conscious community. “This symposium is more than an event; it is a movement,” he said.

The collaboration between the ministry and NANS aims to promote student-centered initiatives and ensure student involvement in policy matters. Comrade Timileyin expressed optimism that the partnership would set a new standard for student involvement in policy matters. “We are optimistic that, with government backing, we will set a new standard for student involvement in policy matters,” he said.
