Varsity announces scholarship campaign to train future doctors

Roseman University of Health Sciences has received two significant grants totaling $2.5 million to fund scholarships for students at its newly accredited college of medicine in Summerlin, Nevada. The grants include a $2 million award from the Engelstad Family Foundation and a $500,000 gift from an anonymous donor.

These funds will launch the university’s “Rhythm of the Future” campaign, aiming to raise $10 million for scholarships to reduce financial barriers for medical students and address Nevada’s critical physician shortage. The state faces a significant shortage, with a 2,500-physician gap and ranking 48th nationally in physician-to-patient ratio.

University trustee Bryan Lindsey emphasized the campaign’s importance, stating, “This is more than a campaign. It is a movement of generosity, of vision, and of shared responsibility.” He added, “The future of health care in Nevada depends on what we build together, and this scholarship fund will ensure that talent—not financial status—determines who gets to become a doctor.
