Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) advocacy group, revealed the demands made by security officials before the reinstated Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was allowed to enter her office yesterday.
Yesufu stated that the National Assembly security personnel required Natasha to present her husband before granting her access to the premises and her office.
Natasha had been suspended by the Senate six months earlier due to sexual harassment accusations involving the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
When she returned yesterday, the sergeant-at-arms unsealed and reopened her office at the National Assembly.
Following the initial commotion, Natasha was permitted to enter the office, where she later spoke to journalists.
However, Yesufu, in a post on X, wrote: “Yesterday the security at the National Assembly were insisting that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s husband has to be around before she will be allowed in.
“They were insisting that was the instruction given to them. I asked them whether they asked for the wives of other senators before letting them in?
“The see finish we get as women in this country is on another level.
“You are asking a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to bring her husband before you open gate! Kai.”
