Nationwide Protest: ‘It’s your fault, you caused it’ – Dele Momodu to Tinubu

Former presidential candidate Dele Momodu has accused President Bola Tinubu of being to blame for the problems that Nigerians are currently facing, which have prompted a nationwide protest.

Momodu raised concern about the challenges faced by common Nigerians and the belief that the President’s style of government has changed in an open letter to the president that was published on X.

He informed President Tinubu that since he fulfilled his dream of becoming president, life in Nigeria has become extremely difficult for everyone but a select few.

“Unfortunately, things have not been easy for Nigerians (except members of the privilegentsia) since you realized your lifelong ambition. And let me be frank Sir. You caused it all. You did not realize that a country is much more complicated than a state.

“I’m sad and embarrassed that a fighter for Democracy is now saying Nigerians will not be allowed to congregate and demonstrate on the streets, something you and I enjoyed during the military regimes, at home and abroad.”

Momodu asserted that although he opposes anarchy, he thinks that possible dangers should be handled without compromising democratic rights.

Having worked on peace projects in Liberia, The Gambia, and Sierra Leone, he said he would not tolerate chaos, guaranteeing that any possible danger could be neutralised quickly.

Momodu asked Tinubu to consult civil rights activists and assess the performance of Nigeria’s security agencies without using coercive tactics.

“Please Sir, go back to your original friends in civil liberties and seek their assistance. Then, use this opportunity to test the strength of your security architecture and the combat readiness of our security agencies.

“Ignore the advice of the hawks in your team. They have nothing to lose since they are mostly beneficiaries of what others died for,” he stated.
