The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has presented cheques totaling N37,663,936 to 35 families of officers who died while in active service. The gesture was made on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, under the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance.
The presentation was aimed at supporting the families of the deceased officers, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Abaniwonda conveyed the appreciation of the nation and the Nigeria Police Force for the sacrifices made by the fallen officers. “The welfare of families of both serving and deceased personnel remains a priority for the IGP,” he said.
The commissioner added that the cheques would serve as a boost to the families and a way of showing them that the Force has not forgotten their sacrifices. “The cheques will serve as a boost to the families and a way of showing them that, even though their loved ones are no longer with us, the Force has not forgotten their sacrifices,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Chidinma Paul, expressed gratitude to the IGP for his generosity, noting that the money received would be used wisely. The presentation of the cheques is a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting the families of its personnel who have made sacrifices in the line of duty.
