Nigerian army arrests soldiers manhandling civilians in viral video

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Army declared that it had located and detained troops who had been seen on camera torturing two citizens in Badagry, Lagos State.

According to ZINGTIE, a video clip showing soldiers abusing citizens went popular on social media.

There had been a clamor for action against the negligent soldiers as a result of the occurrence.

In response, the army stated the soldiers were already in custody in a statement published on its official X handle on Wednesday.

The post reads, “After preliminary investigation, the Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that it has identified and arrested the soldiers involved in the unprofessional handling of two civilians in an unfortunate incident that occurred in Badagry-Lagos State as viewed in a viral video.

“A comprehensive military police investigation of the suspects is ongoing. Be assured that justice will be served accordingly.”
