Soldiers engaged in Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have rejected claims of a plot by insurgents to capture several communities in Borno State.

Colonel Appolonia Amele, Acting Director Army Public Relations stated that troops have shown a strong operational control over the Ngoshe and Gwoza regions of Borno State.

As stated, this eliminated terrorist propaganda about overrunning the areas, as troops had secured a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration throughout the axis.

‘In a desperate bid to remain relevant, Boko Haram/ISWAP elements recently resorted to spreading false claims of plans to overrun Ngoshe and conduct Sallah prayers at the Central Mosque, an attempt aimed at creating panic and projecting a false image of strength. These claims, however, clearly reflect a struggling group increasingly reliant on misinformation rather than capability,” Iit said.

The statement indicates that, based on credible intelligence, troops quickly bolstered their presence in the area after an attempted incursion on March 4 and ramped up clearance operations.

The proactive response, aided by aerial surveillance and the cooperation of vigilant residents, disrupted terrorist movements and resulted in the neutralization of several insurgents, further weakening their already degraded operational capacity.

As a result, during the Sallah period, Ngoshe and the neighboring Gwoza axis are calm, secured, and firmly under the control of Nigerian Army troops.

It stated that residents freely observed prayers and celebrations without any interference, further revealing the emptiness of terrorist claims.
