A Nigerian couple living in the UK is experiencing a remarkable blessing with the birth of their first child, who defied the odds of their AS-AS genetic compatibility by being born with the AA genotype.

@Gustine__ posted the touching news on social media, emphasising how uncommon the event is. An AS-AS pair has a 50% probability of having an AS kid, a 25% chance of having SS, and a 25% chance of having AA during each pregnancy, based on genetic probabilities.

The post reads: “Congratulations to my people. AS X AS got married, first child in the UK turned out to be AA. A perfect way to end the year!!!”

Check out the joyful post.

Online users have expressed their thankfulness and joy in response to the announcement, calling the incident a miracle. @BellaWrites, a social media user, wrote, “Wow, this is such beautiful news! God works in mysterious ways. Wishing them all the best in their parenting journey!”

Discussions over the value of genetic counselling for couples with AS genes have also been rekindled by the couple’s tale. Others took the opportunity to draw attention to the intricacies of genetic inheritance, while others highlighted the happiness and hope the news gives.

As they end the year on a high note, the couple views the birth of their child as a wonderful gift, and their tale keeps spreading hope on social media.
