Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to request assistance, noting that citizens are experiencing hardship.

Abdullahi criticized the disparity between the government and the populace, highlighting that while public officials enjoy extravagant lifestyles and increasingly large motorcades, ordinary Nigerians continue to endure hardship.

He expressed these concerns on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Breakfast Show.

The ADC representative asserted that despite any positive intentions the present administration may have, its inconsistent measures have failed to produce effective results.

He said: “If you know that people are going to suffer as a result of these policies that you have adopted and you are not able to mitigate it, you tell the people, if we do this, we will suffer for this period but this is the result we will get. And I would like to say that even God that said we should worship promised us a reward.

“We have suffered for two years now, where’s the reward. Or what’s the promise of the reward. What do we expect to gain at the end of this suffering as it’s.

“They have been receiving money for subsidy – the money we have been receiving from subsidy is going somewhere. Now where is that money going? They said they have been giving it to states, they have been spending it on infrastructure.

“The question is: how does it affect the life of ordinary person who has to buy petrol at the price of N1000? If I buy petrol at N1000 I should be able to work into a hospital and get cheaper drugs. You don’t see that. That’s why people are suffering but government officials are getting convoys that are longer and they are living in opulence while they say people should continue to suffer.

“The question we need to ask ourselves is why are we suffering? For how long shall we continue to suffer? We should not try to intellectualize this.

“The best expert to know if the economic policies of these government have worked or not is the man in Wuse market, the man in Gbaygi, the man in Ojoba.

“And the verdict is that no matter the intention of this government, no matter how well intentioned in introducing those mixed-up interventions, it hasn’t worked. Will they have the humility to back down and ask themselves what they can do differently? There are brilliant people in this country – they can ask for help.”
