The limitation on Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, was eased after heavy pressure from Adeola Ajayi, the Director General of the Department of State Services, or DSS.
At the DSS facility in Abuja, Kanu’s legal team met with the Biafra agitator under the direction of lead counsel Aloy Ejimakor.
According to Ejimakor, Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives from the Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South Federal constituency, played a crucial role in DSS removing the ban.
Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: “Today, on the directives of the DG DSS, the #MnkLegalTeam conducted the first successful visitation with MAZI NNAMDI KANU since Sept. 27.
“Mazi Ndidi Awurum, who came from the US was with us. Our ramrod legal forays & Hon Obi Aguocha’s intervention were crucial to this outcome.”
After Kanu raised a stir in the Federal High Court in Abuja by demanding that Justice Binta Nyako recuse himself, DSS barred him from seeing his legal team.
However, the court threatened to imprison the DSS Director General for disobeying its decision and ordered the secret police to remove the prohibition.
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Aguocha and Kanu met in person at the DSS facility in Abuja under the blockade.
Following the discussion, the lawmaker claimed to have found a solution to the DSS limitations on Kanu.
