Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, former Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science and Technology, has leveled a serious accusation against Governor Monday Okpebholo, alleging that he allocated N7 billion to a relative, described as his next of kin, to purchase Prado jeeps for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
According to Ogbeide, each Prado jeep costs N120 million, but was acquired for N220 million.
Ogbeide made these claims in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, emphasizing that the Edo House of Assembly did not approve any budgetary allocation or appropriation for this expenditure.
Ogbeide alleged that the funds were channeled to Governor Okpebholo’s brother, Godwin Okoduwa, who subsequently acquired the vehicles.
Additionally, Ogbeide revealed that a separate contract worth N11.9 billion was awarded for the purchase of Toyota Hiluxes just two weeks later, bypassing standard procedures.
“Edo people did you know that a few days after Sen Monday Okpebholo was sworn in, Next of Kin withdrew N7billion and gave to his brother Godwin Okoduwa to buy Prado Land Cruiser SUVs.
“A Prado SUV cost about N120million today but Edo State Government paid N220million each and they are to be distributed to party leaders(the Oshiomole model).
“There was no budgetary allocation for this, there was no appropriation by the House of Assembly, there was no State Tenders board to approve the contract, nobody else bidded for the contract and zero procurement process followed.
“2 weeks after, another contract of N11.9billion was awarded for the purchase of Toyota Hiluxes and due process was not followed.
“Edo has never seen such Financial irresponsibility, Fiscal rascality and squandermania.
“Spend wisely, Next of Kin no dey pity for inheritance.” Ogbeide wrote.

A Rivers State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt has dismissed a motion on notice seeking leave to appeal as an interested party in the suit filed by William Fialasoika and 24 others against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the party’s congresses in the state. The sacked PDP Rivers State Chairman, Chukwuemeka Aaron, had filed the motion on behalf of those purportedly elected as state executives. Also included were Oye Fubara Igenewari, representing those elected as local government executives, and ThankGod Beke, representing ward executives As interested parties, they asked the court for permission to appeal the ruling that removed them from office. The PDP, the original suit's respondent, has already appealed the decision that declared the congresses invalid, thus Justice Stephen Jumbo rejected the motion in his decision on Friday. The PDP's state, local, and ward executives, led by Aaron, were fired by the same court on January 13, 2025, under the presidence of Justice Jumbo, after the congresses that elected them were deemed invalid.
