Adams Oshiomhole, the lawmaker for the Edo North Senatorial District, has demanded that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, notify Governor Monday Okpebholo prior to his visit to the state.
According to Oshiomhole, Peter Obi should do this before his visit out of politeness and self-respect.
According to ZINGTIE, Okpebholo linked a recent trip by the former presidential candidate to a security failure that reportedly led to three fatalities and advised Obi last week not to enter the state without first obtaining security clearance.
The governor’s statements, however, drew harsh condemnation, with many people charging him with intimidating political rivals.
In response to the issue, Oshiomhole stated on Friday’s Prime Time, an Arise Television program, that it is critical to notify authorities when public figures such as Obi intend to visit a state.
Former Edo governor Oshiomhole noted that the state government provides all funding and upkeep for the aforementioned school, which Obi is anticipated to visit.
“Let’s face it; the property of the Edo State Government is entrusted in the hands of the Edo State governor. If anyone, myself included, goes to Enugu or Anambra when Obi was governor and I want to visit a government-owned facility, like a nursing institution, it is a matter of decency and self-respect to inform the authorities.
“Peter Obi was my colleague, and we knew each other very well. I liked him then, and I still do, but politically, we don’t agree. I do not subscribe to his views on certain matters,” Oshiomhole said.
