Turkish football analyst Omer Urundul has raised doubts about the high praise surrounding Victor Osimhen, suggesting that the striker may not be as exceptional as he is often made out to be.
Urundul pointed to the “very weak” defensive setups in the Turkish league as the reason behind Osimhen’s impressive goal tally for Galatasaray this season.
This is despite Osimhen’s successful stints in both France and Italy, where he has also delivered strong performances.
The pundit urged fans and analysts not to be overly swayed by the growing excitement surrounding the Nigerian forward.
He believes that Osimhen’s goal-scoring abilities would not translate as easily in the English Premier League.
Habersarikirmizi quoted Üründül as saying that, “Some players in our league should not be promoted too much. Victor Osimhen should go, they would hardly move in England or Italy.”
“Turkish teams have very weak defense. They score goals with ease. European teams know how to defend very well,” he added.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, previously enjoyed significant success with Napoli in Serie A.
Before Antonio Conte’s arrival, who favored Romelu Lukaku for his attack, Osimhen played a key role in Napoli’s Serie A title win, claiming the Golden Boot in the process.
