On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s election.
The lead judge, Justice Mohammed Garba, characterized the claim that Mbah lacked a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate as a mere allegation.
The court addressed all the arguments made in the appeal against the appellant.
The Labour Party’s Chijioke Edeoga, the appellant, had brought INEC and Mbah before the court to contest the Court of Appeal’s ruling that had rejected his challenge to the governor’s election.
In a unanimous ruling, the Lagos Division of the Appeal Court addressed each of the three points raised against the appellant, Edeoga.
The appellant was unable to provide evidence showing the respondent lacked the necessary qualifications to run for governor, according to the three-member panel led by Justice Tani Hassan.
In response to the charge of excessive voting, Hassan concluded in her lead judgment that the voters’ register was never submitted to the lower tribunal, emphasizing that this made the appeal inadmissible.
According to Ayodele: “We must be very watchful because Nigeria will break up in 2035, only God will stop it.
“If this government fails to restructure Nigeria, the country will break up.
“Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho will have no hands in Nigeria’s break up, the country will break up naturally.
“People will get tired of staying together and they will ask for a referendum that will make it to happen.”
