The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has been instructed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to stop disseminating false information regarding the alleged recent defection of some individuals.

None of its members have defected to the PDP, according to SDP.

ZINGTIE remembers that the PDP had asserted that it had gotten the majority of the SDP members who had defected over the weekend in the Oluyole Local

Area.

According to the PDP, Mr. Olusina Ogunsola was the leader of the defectors.

SDP responded, however, by stating that the party is unaware of the aforementioned Ogunsola.

In a statement released on Monday, Oluyole Local Government SDP chairman and secretary Ganiyu Lawal and Saheed Adewale Adetunji, respectively, stated that the party in the local government area is intact.

In a statement provided to ZINGTIE in the state capital of Ibadan, the two emphasised that the aforementioned Ogunsola is not a local government area SDP member.

The statement read: “It has come to our notice that one Mr Ogunsola led some of our members in SDP Oluyole Local Government to the PDP Oluyole.

“We want the general public to know that SDP Oluyole is intact; none of our members left the party in SDP Oluyole Local Government. Those names that were mentioned in the news are not our members; they left the party before the 2023 general election. It is no longer news that the SDP gubernatorial candidate declared support for the PDP candidate, Gov Oluseyi Makinde, which led to his defection to the PDP before the last general election.

“For Mr Ogunsola to claim that he led our members to the PDP shows that he knows nothing about Oluyole politics and is at the mercy of political traders. We advise him to watch his political movements and seek political advice before he lands in the house of political parasites.

“We are using this medium to inform the general public that none of our members has defected to the PDP. We also want to advise the PDP to stop spreading fake news that SDP members have joined the PDP.”
